I don't know how many of you are following me on
Pinterest, but I have quite the collection of pins, most of which fall into the category of:
FOOD.
It's hard for me to remember exactly when my love for cooking began, but I think my earliest memory of culinary experimentation was when I lived back in my childhood home.
I remember mixing up some bread dough from the
A-Z Kids Cookbook that my grandma gave me, heating up a pan on the stove (
That I was barely tall enough to see over...), melting butter, adding some garlic, and throwing in flattened pieces of dough to make what I called "Fry Bread". I can imagine it wasn't the most appetizing thing that I've ever made, but I loved to make it. I honestly don't even know how old I must have been, maybe 10 or 11.
I also remember loving to watch the Food Network. I loved watching Emeril Lagasse yell "BAM!!!" as he threw a pinch of salt into the pot, loved watching Rachael Ray crack herself up as she was cooking her 30 minute meals, and Mario Batali make pillowy gnocchi.
In short, cooking is my passion.
I do think that it's really important to have these passions to drive us and give us something to look forward to each day. Even if I'm just cooking up another pot of Pasta Roni when I'm in a hurry, it's something I definitely get excited for.
What are some of your passions?
