Untitled

Wow! It has been a very long time since I have last blogged here, and I think I'm ready to talk again.  Between planning the wedding, buying a home, and trying to have some time to myself, I took a little break from the blogosphere.  Please forgive.

It's been almost 3 weeks since the wedding, and it seems like a lifetime ago I woke up ready to promise to be loyal to the love of my life for eternity.  It was a wonderful experience to be sealed to my husband, and so far, marriage has been both what I expected and not what I expected.

What I didn't expect was how normal being married would feel. Life goes on. We spent a heavenly week in Maui, filled with beach time, snorkeling, and long drives.  Then, all of a sudden, we snapped back into our normal routine.  We both went back to work, had bills to pay, errands to run, dinner to cook.  It's been wonderful, comforting, and very normal. I'm very happy to not be in shock from a gigantic life change, although I must admit some feelings of homesickness have washed over me several times.  Not for home, but for nights watching movies at Trev's parents house, our long drives and slurpee runs.  I'm sure we'll get back to that once things settle in a bit, but oh how I have missed it as we've been planning and running around getting the necessities done.

I've also become a little more thoughtful lately.  Maybe it's because my mind is no longer filled with flowers, cake, and wedding decorations.  I'm ready to pursue some bigger things in life.  I recently saw this quote: "Die with memories, not dreams", and it's really made me think about the dreams I have and what I can be doing NOW to make them a reality.  I'm ready to buckle down and pursue some of my wants and wishes I've been too tired, overwhelmed, or lazy to pursue.  I'm a professional procrastinator and I'm ready to change my ways!

You may be thinking to yourself "Wow, Debby Downer, way to kill the mood".  But really, I hope to be able to make changes in my life now to really feel fulfilled.  I hope to be someone reliable, put together, and kind.  I know these things are already part of who I am, but I really want to emphasize them.  I'm ready for a full makeover, if you will.  Do you get what I'm saying?

I am very excited to begin sharing many photos from the wedding day with you, but for now, here's one from the happiest day of my life so far....

And here's to many, many more happy days with my one and only by my side.

Wedding Cheesiness

Today, I need to blog.  I'm getting extremely excited for my coming wedding (79 days!), and this morning I was able to have my final fitting for my wedding gown.  I had debated on which belt I wanted... yes, real big problems here... and finally chose the perfect addition to my gown and belt placement as well.  Turns out depending on where you put the belt can change EVERYTHING about the dress, and I am beyond excited that we found the perfect look today.

Let me tell you a little bit about my gown.  It is fairly form fitting, and makes my bum look extra great.  It's actually two separate pieces, one is a lining, and the other is a beautiful lace and mesh overlay.  I can hardly stand how beautiful I feel in this glamorous gown.  It is sparkly and hangs just right in all the right places.  I haven't been too emotional about it until today, and it was such a great experience to have so much support as I am preparing for one of the biggest days of my life. In fact, here's a photo.

But to be honest, it looks way different in person on my body & with our alterations, but you can still get a general idea:

Trevor and I have decided that he is not to see the dress until we take our bride & groom photos (but he has seen this photo on the model).  Our photographer is going to take a first look photo for us, and I couldn't be more excited.  I have always pictured my husband seeing me on our wedding day for the first time, but I am even more excited about having that moment captured forever.

You sick of my wedding cheesiness yet?

These past few weeks have been zooming by scarily fast, and just this morning it really started to sink in that very soon I will be marrying the man of my dreams.

*siiigh*.

Life is good, people. I hope I never snap out of this twitterpated phase.

88 Days & a Weekend Update

Monday! I sure do love you. Well, at least today I do.  We are now down to 88 days on the official wedding count down, and I'm pretty sure it feels like yesterday when we reached 100 days.

Part of me loves how fast time is going, but part of me is also starting to have random daily fits of panic as I realize how much there is to do between now and August 2nd.

I mean, we haven't even taken engagements yet for heaven sakes!  (On the calendar for May 16th, though.  I'm beyond excited.)

This weekend was pretty laid back, I don't have any exciting stories or photos, but to give you an idea of how things went... here's a post weekend recap. (Mostly for me so I feel a LITTLE productive..)

Friday: Talked to insurance agent, got discount on car insurance & also a quote for Trevor.  I was satisfied when I found that my insurance is a whole $20 a month cheaper than his.  I realize this mostly is due to the fact that he is a male in his early 20's, but Trevor wins at everything, so I take what I can.

Saturday: Got my hair done (thanks, mom!).  Helped my little sister get ready for prom.  She looked beautiful, and I felt like a winner.

Don't they ALL look great? She had the best group.

Sunday: Went to church.  Made some dinner for me and my bestie, and got some date time with Trevor.

So, really, it was a pretty average weekend... I'll hopefully have some more exciting events next week to share (if I share them at all, really... sorry little blog!)

A Valentines Post for Trevor

Happy Valentines Day, Trev!

I'm so excited this is our 2nd Valentines Day, and am excited for 100 more to come!  Want to know some things I love about you?

* You are hilarious.  Always making me laugh (or at least trying... sorry I get grumpy sometimes).

* You put up with my picture taking.  I know you don't love it (see above photo...), but you still let me take your picture, because you know it's important to me.

* You are so selfless and loving.  I know for a fact that you would do ANYTHING for me.  You are the same way with your family, friends, and even coworkers.  You are so kind.

* You are extremely determined, dedicated, and hardworking.  You are putting in so much overtime at work to provide for us & to work towards the position you want at the company.  I know you will always provide for us and our little future family.

* You are so handsome.  I also love that you care about the way you look.  You always look your best no matter what we're doing.  It also doesn't hurt that you love the gym. ;)

* You are a gentleman through and through.

I love you as much as two rockets going opposite directions in space. You are the love of my life, and I can't wait to marry you on August 2nd. It's going to be unreal!

Happy Valentines Day, Babe! Love, your Becca Boo.

I'm Not a Wedding Planner!

I've been trying really hard to blog more lately.  I am so full of so many emotions at the moment, I'm finding it appealing to write & share, yet so difficult to get what I want to say into actual words.

If I were to tell you I am completely at ease with planning this wedding, I would be lying.  I've been having headaches, losing sleep, and am just plain out exhausted.  I am so excited to be married to my best friend, but this whole wedding reception thing is a beast.  And OH so expensive, might I add.

I've been feeling a little guilty, because I know that this should be such a fun time!  I mean, we're only going to be engaged once in our life together, right? Trevor is holding it together like a champ, working overtime at his job (which is a bit miserable for him -- Thanks, babe!), keeping in touch with our realtor, and also taking any tasks off of my hands that may just push me over the edge. So efficient.

Anyway, here are a few inspiration points for our wedding:

Does anyone have any wedding planning advice for us?  The wedding is 6 months away, so I have tons of time, but I just can't help but stress.

Our Engagement Story

Hi Everyone! I'm changing my name this year!

(I'll post more pictures of the engagement later... have to grab them from my friend)

I wanted to share some pretty amazing news with everyone here on the blogosphere, and I'm going to tell the whole story from beginning to end. So get comfy!

Let me preface by saying that Trevor purchased my ring back in July.  I fell in love with it one time when we were just "window shopping" for rings, and it was too good of a deal to turn down, so he purchased it right then and there.  I've been eagerly waiting for him to pop the question, and sort of knew that it would be any day now, but was not expecting him to do it in Las Vegas. . . (yep!)

About two weeks ago, mine & Trevors friends, Kaila & David, invited us to visit the great city of Las Vegas with them.  David is from Australia, and wanted to get a true American experience since this was his first time visiting the US.  After a little thought, we decided to go!

Now, this is a bit unusual for Trevor and I.  We do not travel, as we are saving up money, and usually are just flat out pooped (read: lazy) by the time the weekend comes.  Neither of us had ever been to Vegas. I wanted to go, and Trevor seemed pretty excited about going, so we went!  Little did I know that as they invited us, Trev was making his own plans for the trip.

Here are a few glimpses of me getting suspicious, and then Trevor smoothly covering.  I'm much to trusting.

We left on Saturday, January 12th, and Trevor had brought his camera.  He NEVER uses his camera.  In fact, all the pictures on it are from when he served his LDS Mission in Canada. (He returned just over 2 years ago... so really, that camera never gets used).  He had it in his jacket pocket, and I gave the string a little tug and asked why he brought it.  He told me he was simply excited to visit Las Vegas because he's never been, and that satisfied me. We've never traveled like this together before, so I accepted this as a travel quirk of his, and my suspicion left.

(side note: it actually turns out that he had his camera in that pocket because my RING box was behind it... he didn't want me to bump into it and get curious... he wanted his camera there as an excuse for a lumpy jacket. Sneaky sneaky!)

We checked into our hotel.  Dave had purchased a room at Caesar's Palace, and it was amazing. This was the first actual hotel that Trevor had ever stayed at, so it was a way fun experience. We enjoyed walking through the casinos, seeing all the strange people, and just being in the city.

We had talked earlier about wanting to go to the aquarium at Mandalay Bay, because I really love aquariums.  I've always wanted to walk through a shark tunnel as well, where you are just surrounded by water and crazy looking fish.  So, that was our plan and the one thing Trev and I really wanted to do.

As a group, we decided to go shopping at Caesars Palace, to explore the strip, and to grab some dinner.  I was really excited to see the aquarium, so I figured we'd get all the stuff out of the way that our friends wanted to do so we could spend a good amount of time at Mandalay Bay.

I could tell as we were making stops before the aquarium, Trev was getting a little anxious.  He was getting frustrated with the stops we were making and I figured it was just because it was freezing, crowded, and maybe his body was aching like mine was. He kept saying things like "Man, we're never gonna get to the aquarium at this rate!" or "Agh! Why are we stopping again?".  I seriously thought he was just being a killjoy, but I now know that he was dropping hints to our friends that he was ready to do this thing!

When we got to the aquarium, I ended up having to use my inhaler as I was getting lightheaded and nauseous.  We took a sit for a minute and I finally was feeling better.  The cigarette smoke everywhere took a toll on my lungs. Ha ha!  Trevor was being very sweet and patient at this time, and I could tell he was just really excited to be at the aquarium.  His nerdy side was coming out, and I loved it.  We walked into the actual aquarium section, and he gave me a huge hug and a kiss and let me know he loved me.  I was again a little suspicious and asked him why he was so excited to be in the aquarium, and he responded by letting me know I should know better than anyone what a nerd he was.  Well, that's just the plain truth. So my suspicion was gone again.

We ended up winding our way through the aquarium, saw some crazy huge barracudas and creepy looking sharks, then finally made it to the tunnel. We had seen this part on their website, and were way excited to go stand in it.  We stood there for a moment enjoying the grandeur of the sharks & fish swimming over us, then Trev asked me to come sit with him.  He told me he had a secret for me, and let me know that he had talked to my parents the previous week. I was completely shocked, because he had told me that he kept forgetting to talk to them... in fact, I had been a little perturbed about it. But, he really wanted to surprise me, and had gone just a week earlier.  That sneaky boy!  Anyway, he got on one knee and asked me if I would marry him.  Of course, I said YES.  The ring was gorgeous in the aquarium lights, and he looked more handsome than ever.  It's finally official!

I loved the way he proposed.  It was so simple, and we were at one of the most perfect places I could have imagined.

More photos to come!

It's Time for Some Cheese

It has been exactly one year since Trev and I said  "I love you" to each other.  He said it first, and it was more of a "You know I love you, right?"

It was pretty great, because I had been wanting him to say it for days and days and was hinting and was nervous and when he finally said it, it was like a weight had been lifted.  I just couldn't say it first, I'm too chicken, but I really, really wanted to. Thoughts like "What if he doesn't love me back?" were drifting through my noggin.

Then he said it.

And I said "I know," because I really did know it, and "I love you too."

And it was cute
and exciting.
 And I could breathe again.

We still love each other, and life is good.

Tonight we'll probably celebrate by getting Slurpees and watching The Walking Dead.  I'm also thinking of making a grocery stop because I'm craving some Ben & Jerry's Phish Food.

Don't you just love love?  Today especially I'm super fond of it.

Happy BeLATEd Birthday, T-Rev!

As I mentioned in a previous post, it was Trevor's birthday two Wednesdays ago (the 15th).  Now, this guy really deserves a post of his own.  Seriously, he's pretty awesome. I mean, really, just look at him!

Good As Gold Blog

I crush on him like Aaron Carter in the 90's.

For those of you who don't know, Trev & I have been dating for a little over a year.  A few things about Trev?
He's the bees knees.
He is so. stinkin. funny.
He is the smartest person I know.
He's a go-getter.
He doesn't settle for adequate.
He's extremely patient.
He's goo-hood lookin.
.... etc. etc.

I'd love to write a post up on our story & how I tricked him into our first date, but I'll save that for another day.

For now, Happy Birthday Trev!

Love you as much as two rockets going opposite ways in space.
Yep.
